The Purpose of Prophecy –
The “Purpose of Prophecy” is to draw you into the direction that God has already laid in your own heart. It confirms, directs and redirects, envisions and re-envisions the believer of their purpose, calling, and destiny.
The Spirit manifests himself as He wills in individual lives – the manifestations are HIM! He Manifest Jesus Nature, emotions, character, thoughts, and his will. Prophecy always points you to Jesus and his redemptive work in you.
A.) Prophecy is for Correction, Direction, and Confirmation
1 Cor 14:1-3 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2 For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.
The Spirit and the- Word Agree!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Prophecy is like a mile marker or billboard for your destination off-ramp. (Example: 90 Miles, 50 Miles, 12 Miles, Next Right)
Don’t miss or miss read your Billboards or you will miss your next day in God and prolong your journey in the Kingdom.
Translating Your Prophecy
A.) Use your Leaders for Oversight
Hebrews Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.
Words are for the People on the other side of your life – NOT just for you!
Example: You are called to the Nations, You are a Young Leader; The word is not really about you but rather those you are called to serve.(You must process your words according to understanding or you heart will deceive you.)
Most Prophetic Words: are to let you know what God is making in you.–Usually a prophetic word is your Bus Ticket to send you or (an individual) to the wilderness process for the making. This is a very important process to realize because most people try to become their words themselves outside of the provisions of the spirit and his dealings.
Ask yourself, is the word I have received a Confirming, Corrective or a Directive Word?
This will determine the means of delivery many times and often the timing.
Ask yourself, what is the timing of the word- (Past, Present, or Future tense)?
Find out what the mental pictures, metaphors, or parables you are receiving man according to the scripture and Life.
Example: I see the lord placing you on an anvil and the hammer of God coming quickly down upon your life.
How does the word I have received relate to the other words I know that God has given me in the past? - (Timing and Response is everything.)
Example: A word about marriage.
Judging and Living Out Your Prophecy
Matthew “ BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.
Using God’s Refrigerator
If you get a word that does not make since to you, place the word back into Gods refrigerator. -
(Give the word back to God and ask him to confirm the word again by another voice or means if it is really Him.) – This is important because often God is speaking to the God-Image within you that often times through life and circumstances we do not have a right perspective towards any longer. God speaks to what you are and are becoming in the spirit and we often judge our words through our past lives and current conditions. - (We often judge by old wounds, fears, hopes, dreams and ideas of our image and future that are out of perspective)
Never move or act on a word or direction without a prompting and confirmation from God in your heart (Peace), and blessing from leadership that is giving account for helping lead you.
You cannot make your own words come to past! WAIT!…….WAIT!……WAIT!
You cannot decide the timing that your words will happen in - you discover it!
Pray about your words and submit them to be judges by leaders always, Wise council, proper interpretation and timing advice!
B.) Always judge your words by the written word of God
All prophetic-words must line up within the context or values of written scripture! Any voice that violates these boundaries IS NOT GOD!
