Old Testament Prophecies

God knew before the foundations of the world that men would fall. So by the time Adam and Eve fell God had already made a decision in his heart on how he was going to redeem men back to himself.

It would take a _______ man to redeem men back to a _________ God.

(God determined to send Jesus – Slain before the foundations of the earth.)

God would represent the death of His son, Jesus, in a way that carnal man could understand, a _____________ ― the death of an innocent Lamb to take their place.

God would foreshadow and prophecy the death of Jesus for 4000 years before his arrival through the _____________ of sacrificed lambs.

The Lamb of God who takes away the Sin of the World!

God prophesied his salvation and redemption, from the first address to fallen men in the garden, all the way through the death of His own son. God made a ______________ through Himself for man. All man had to do was let God take their place as the sacrifice before God the Father.

A.) OT Prophecies-

The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

Genesis 3:21

God killed the first sacrificial animal to cover mans sin in his ____________ ―a foreshadowing of the death that would have to take place to redeem men.

Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So the two of them walked on together. Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them walked on together.

3 “Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month they are each one to take a lamb for themselves, according to their fathers’ households, a lamb for each household…

7 ’ they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it…

11 ’Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste — it is the LORD’S Passover.

12 ’For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments — I am the LORD.

13 ’ The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

John 1:29-30

John the Baptist announces the living Sacrificial Lamb―Jesus

The Jews understood this statement because of years of ________________ passed down through the ages by the patriarchs worship system set up by Moses. The death of a lamb on the brazen alter (which represented the Cross) ― see Hebrews, Exodus, and Leviticus.

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

1 Peter 1:17-19

God has provided a _____________ for every man that has been separated from Him through sin, by _______________ man to himself with the sacrifice of Jesus the lamb.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

C.) Heavens View of the Lamb

And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “ Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”

Revelation 5:6-12

Right now, all of heaven is looking at the Lamb of God who has __________ the way for every man to live with Him. And all who let the lamb be their _______________ will find themselves standing with the Lord in His glory.

We see that God through His sovereign plan ____________ through the ages of time, saw the happenings and choices of men ____________ they even happened, and then came back to the ________________ of time and wrote those events in a book so men could easily recognize His redemptive plan as it unfolded.

You have a hand out that shows the unfolding of God’s plan. Read this document carefully and look at the scriptures as they walk you through the Bible. Notice the detail that God revealed about the coming Messiah (His Son Jesus).
