What Is The Problem With Me?

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Romans 3:23

Because Adam sinned, the sin nature was _________________ to mankind. Man, being born with the sin nature at work, was born a sinner.

Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.

James 4:17

Sin in singular is defined as the “Acts of Sin” which ____ commit.

The plural form of sin – Sins – is most often used to refer to the acts of sin _____ commit.

Knowing this, that the old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should no longer serve sin.”

Romans 6:16 KJV

So then they that are in the flesh can not please God.

Romans 8:8 KJV

But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you…

Romans 8:9 KJV

There is also the “Nature of Sin” which is a “_________” to do as we wish; our own will. “The Old Man,” “the Old Self,” flesh, but not referring to the physical body.

Both the “acts of sin,” my sin, and the “sin nature” have their solution or remedy in Jesus Christ at the cross. What is the solution for “my sins?” The reality is, is that my sins and my choosing to ignore God’s principles for living creates an attitude of ______________ and ________________.

“If it feels good, do it – don’t worry about what God thinks.”

“Look out for #1”

“It’s my life, I can do what I please.”

“I don’t need God, I can look after myself.”

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:8

For the wages of sin is death…

Romans 6:23

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way…

Isaiah 53:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6-7

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

Acts 4:12

The question we need to be asking is, “Can I really do as I please; sinning and choosing my own life, and in the end – save myself?”

To answer the question, “What’s the problem?”, we must realize that we are sinners and law breakers, and that living according to our sin nature, we cannot please God. Sin breaks our relationship with Him. It causes us to be afraid of God and to give our lives outside of His purpose and will.

If our lives, which were created in God’s image, are not being lived within that purpose (image) then it affects every area of our lives; our careers, marriage, relationships, finances, moods, opinions, attitudes, etc. It affects our daily living as well as the rest of our lives.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Proverbs 16:25

We often look for ways to change our circumstances or ways to cope with life, but turning to God isn’t often at the top of that list.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son.

Romans 8:29

God’s desire is that we would be brought back into the image of Jesus which we were created to live in, the “image of God.” It can’t just be a catharses, turning over a new leaf; it can’t be because of my mother; “I’ll change my ‘bad’ habits,” “I’ll start going to church,” or “I’ll be really good and do better.” In order for this to happen, we have to acknowledge that we are sinners and we deserve the justice and punishment of God.
