The Dream Of Man

Inside the Life of Every Man & Woman…

God had a _______ ___________ to have a created being with which He could have relationship; real friendship which can only come out of a deep love. God’s desire was that His creation would have the ______ to choose to live in friendship with Him: That His creation would _________________ _______ God and want to be with Him, to talk with Him, to ________ Him, and to really live with Him.

God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Genesis 1:25-26

God had created all of creation and it was good, but His heart wasn’t fulfilled, so He created man.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:27

Man became the Crown of God’s creation.

God gave man the _________________ to “Rule over all of creation.” (Gen 1:26)

God ______________ man:

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves along the ground.

Genesis 1:28

God gave man all of the plant life to have dominion over and for food, Except for two trees in the center of his dominion; the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. In this way God gave man dominion over all of the earth, basically as King of the earth. However God also gave man the opportunity to _________ to love God. The display of that love would be relationship, honoring God, and obeying Him in all things.

The major point of obedience would come in the seemingly simple command.

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

Genesis 2:16-17

God’s desire was not that Man would have to fail or die. But God had to have a way in which man could make the choice to have relationship with God, otherwise man would be only be a puppet without opportunity, destiny, or legacy.

In order for man to live in obedience there would have to be relationship which ____________ (Biblical) submission. Submission to authority is critical for total obedience. Man can obey without being submitted but real relationship can not happen without full submission. Submission is a choice made in the heart or spirit and is carried out through the conscious mind.

God’s dream was for Adam (man) to rule and have dominion (Gen 1:28). In verse 26 we find that man was also created to “____________,” which means to bring everything under ______, even by force. In order for man to rule he has to have ______________. However, for man to walk in authority, he has to be submitted, and to the degree we are submitted to authority, to that same degree will we be given authority. God is the ultimate and absolute authority, and there is no one else that man would submit to. It is God who made man King of the Earth and all that is on it.

Since man was created in ________ image, man would have the capacity to think or reason, to feel and have emotion, to will and have volition. Since God is three persons yet one, man is created in the same image; God being Father, Son, and Spirit so man is created having a body, a soul, and a Spirit, yet he is one man.

The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (Spirit; wind of life), and the man became a living being (soul).

Genesis 2:7

We see God formed man’s ________ from the dust; then He breathed life or ________ into this clay body, and then man became a living being having a ______. Thus man has the image of God as three distinct functions yet being one; for man is Body, Soul, and Spirit.

So it is that man is given all the equipment, the where with all, to take dominion and rule, being totally submitted to God (the absolute authority) and gaining authority over _____ the earth. God, Adam and Eve walk together and have wonderful relations. Adam and Eve are learning and gaining understanding since God has given man that capacity to learn and grow in knowledge.

It stands to reason that Satan would tempt Eve (who is to be submitted to her husband’s authority and Adam to be submitted to God’s) with gaining __________________ about evil which was new, since God had not taught them evil. When Adam gave into the temptation and ate the forbidden fruit, he actually submitted to the devil, when at first Adam had rule over him. Adam is the king of the earth; he has authority because he is submitted to God in all things, but when he resists God’s authority in order to learn from a created being (the serpent) Adam actually gives his authority to the serpent (i.e. the devil).

Paul refers to Satan as “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). Jesus calls Satan “the prince of this world” (John 14:40, 16:11). So Adam gave his authority to the devil and the consequence of this transgression is that the devil now possesses man’s authority and man now has received Satan’s nature; his bent to rebellion and sin. Now every person born of a man (by man’s seed) has a nature of sin, making man a sinner.
