Healing the Broken Hearted: Prayer for Healing of Parental Wounds
Father Wounds
The job of a father is to provide, protect, and give identity. It is necessary to pray, forgive, and release our fathers for every way in which they fell short, and we are going to allow God to father us.
~ Prayer to Heal from Father Wounds ~
Father God, thank you for being my Father.
Father, I thank you for providing for me, for protecting me, and for giving me an identity.
In this moment, I release to you my natural father in every area that he did not provide, did not protect, or did not give me an identity.
I forgive him and I release him. He owes me nothing.
Moving forward, I see You as my Father.
I will not hold my earthly father hostage anymore. I release him fully and completely.
I do not hold him responsible for who I get to become and who You are making me into.
I allow You to father me as I need to be.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Write down 3 emotions you are feeling right now and why you think you are feeling them.

You may need to pray this more than once and until the pain connected to your father/father figure no longer feels raw.

Mother Wounds
The job of a mother is to comfort, nurture, and teach. It is necessary to pray, forgive, and release our mothers for every way in which they fell short, and we are going to allow God to mother us.

I do not hold her responsible for who I get to become, and who You are making me into.
