A JOURNEY OF FAITH & HEALING
Becoming Human
as God Intended
life transformed
Slide 2
HEALING THE BROKEN HEARTED
Jesus came to heal broken hearts, to set the captives free, and to destroy the works of the devil.
Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Isaiah 61:1; LUKE 4 (NKJV)
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound.
1 John 3:8b (NKJV)
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.
Speaker notes:
Slide and scripture
Healing is God’s idea
He knew we would need it
Salvation Greek word SOZO
-Saved
-Healed
-Delivered
We have an invitation to come boldly before the throne of grace
We either embrace the healing process or reach for a fig leaf to hide behind
Slide 3
WHY IS HEALING IMPORTANT?
To become human as God intended, our hearts must be made whole.
Speaker notes:
Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
In biblical terms, the “heart” represent your innermost being – your thoughts, emotions, desires, and motivations. It is the control center of your life.
It shapes your life – your every action, decision, and attitude originates in your heart.
To become human as God intended, our hearts | our true selves MUST be made whole.
[Review slide images, charts, tables, and reading order.]
Slide 4
TO BE HUMAN AS GOD INTENDED
We must be restored to the image of God.
We must be healed in our self-image.
We must understand and appropriate the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Speaker notes:
Before we go any further, some barriers to our healing:
Our image of God (Handout 1)
Our self image (Handout 2)
Our understanding of what Jesus accomplished for us on Calvary (Handout 3)
HANDOUTS - Briefly go through
Explain that they are for homework
Critical foundational work that needs to be done.
In oppressing God’s children, the enemy is counting on our ignorance, unbelief, and unresolved issues that keep us limited or bound.
Slide 5
How does the enemy gain access into our lives to oppress us?
Sin
Personal sin
Willful or ignorant wrong doing
Engagement in occultic practices
Sins committed against us
Generational curses that come from familial sins
Wounds (negative impacts of being hurt)
Speaker notes:
Sin is the doorway
Sin aligns us with the nature of the Devil and brings us into agreement with him.
Agreement gives him access.
Sin = loss of authority in the realm of the spirit
We all have a Hedge of Protection (illustrated in Job 1:10; 2:4-6)
Our disobedience breeches the hedge.
The enemy is not powerful enough to open the door into our lives
He comes through the door we open
Numnber 22-24
King Balak hires a foreign prophet to curse God’s people because he was afraid of them.
God opposes him and his donkey opposes him
He is physically unable to curse God’s children, instead pronounces 4 blessings on them
I can’t curse what God has blessed!!!
That is our testimony.
However, devised a loophole
He advised the King to seduce the men of Israel with Moabite women so that they would disobey God and bring a curse upon themselves
And it worked
They opened the door
So do we when we sin
Slide 6
4 MAIN OPEN DOORS OF SIN
Sin
Personal sin
Willful or ignorant disobedience to God
Engagement in occultic practices
Sins committed against us
Generational curses that come from familial sins
Wounds (negative impacts of being hurt
Speaker notes:
The enemy uses 4 main open doors of sin.
PERSONAL SINS
Sins we commit in disobedience to God
Sins we commit through our actions – lying, stealing, sexual sins
Sins we commit through our attitudes – pride, envy, independence, unbelief
OCCULT
Voluntary participation in ouija boards, horoscopes, having demonic objects or charms, secret society membership, and so forth; can also include involuntary exposure to darkness, for example: kids watching dark movies.
GENERATIONAL SINS (Kim preached a great message)
Sins of our fathers ( great grandparents, grandparents, parents etc)
We may not know about them but we inherit them.
Forms the landscape into which we are born
Will dig into more of this tonight….
Will cover the rest in future TRACKS over the Summer
WOUNDS
Result from sins committed against us
Betrayal, abuse, divorce
Often lead to offense, unforgiveness, bitterness, judgement
Most commonly occurs in childhood from our caregivers – Fathers, Mothers, Siblings, Grandparents etc
Because of the pain, we can believe lies about God and about ourselves
Become the lens through which we see life
All of these open doors OF SIN can prevent us from being in right relationship with God, by creating barriers that separate us from approaching God, hearing His voice, feeling connected to Him, or knowing His will for our lives.
Slide 7
GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES
The cumulative effect on a person of the things that their ancestors did, believed, or practiced in the past; also the residual consequence of an ancestor’s actions, beliefs, and sins being passed down.
Speaker notes:
The things we inherit from our ancestors
What we were raised in will influence us, whether we want it to or not
Example: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all were involved with deception at certain moments in their lives and in connection with their wives.
Slide 8
Things Passed Down or Inherited
Physical Characteristics
Hereditary Predisposition
Spiritual Inheritance
Speaker notes:
Physical characteristics – DNA, looks, mannerisms
Hereditary Predisposition – more soul level inheritance from our parents such as mental illness, worry, anxiety etc
Spiritual Inheritance – covenantal gifts/callings, family mandates
All passed on when we are conceived
Slide 9
SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE - Truths
Generational sins (or righteousness) provoke God’s spiritual laws:
Law of Blessings and Curses
Kingdom Law of Sowing and Reaping
Kingdom Law of Multiplication
Kingdom Law of Binding and Loosing
Speaker notes:
Work for both Blessings and Curses
Unrepentant sin becomes a generational curse – transferrable to the next generation as an entanglement or snare.
Laws in the Kingdom of God that come into play here
Sowing and Reaping
“For whatsoever a man soweth that shall he reap, also” Gal 6:7
When ancestors faces troubles times
If held on to God
Sought His help
Repented of their sins
Forgave the hurts and wounds caused them
They sowed GOOD seed
Descendants would reap a legacy of faith – love, joy, blessings.
BUT….
If they turned away from God in unforgiveness
Responded in anger, resentment, revenge, disobedience
Acted out of the pain
Fell back into OT law of an eye for an eye
Result is an open door
When the enemy detects a nature that looks like his,
He comes and joins himself to it.
These every spirits begin to plant seeds of lust, hatred, rejection
Once our ancestors agree and participate in those behaviors
Their descendant reap all sorts of dysfunction, curses and demonic influences.
Takes us to the next Law of the Kingdom at play..
Law of Multiplication (Matt 13:8) What we sow will multiply!
What starts of small will multiply with each subsequent generation.
Law of Binding and Loosing Matt 16:19
Whatever we bind on earth is bound in Heaven.
When our ancestors committed sin, they bound all future generations to the consequences of that sin.
Slide 10
SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE – Ex 1
Adam and Eve DISOBEDIENCE
Disobedience = original sin, fallen nature of all humanity
Generational transfer of good and evil:
Good = Blessing of mercy/acceptance in Abel
Evil = Curse of rebellion, idolatry, anger/rage, murder, and rejection in Cain
Good = Covenantal blessing of righteous and grace in Seth and his descendants (such as Enoch, Noah, Abraham, etc.)
Evil = Generational transfer of wickedness to Cain’s descendants (lewdness, depravity, polygamy, etc.)
Speaker notes:
Adam and Eve’s disobedience is the source or root of original sin and fallen nature in humanity.
They passed both the curse of rebellion and the blessing of mercy to their sons:
Cain chose to be rebellious and committed murder and idolatry; he passed that curse on to his children and subsequent generations
Abel chose to obey God and received mercy and divine acceptance.
Romans 5:19 – For by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners…
Santanic and demonic spirits then had access influence and corrupt the human nature, Ephesians 2:2 – Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according ot the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.
Generations of humanity then repositioned themselves to be aligned with the wrath and judgment of God, Ephesians 5:6, Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. / Colossians 3:6, For which sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience
Slide 11
SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE – Ex 2
David DISOBEDIENCE, committed adultery, coveted his friend’s wife, took her (rape), murdered her husband/his friend, covered it up (lied)
Generational transfer of good and evil:
Evil = David & Bathesheba’s innocent child dies as a consequence
Good = David and Bathesheba’s son Solomon is loved by God
Evil = David’s Son Amon rapes his half-sister Tamar; his other son Absalom openly takes his father’s wives, eventually he is killed
Good = Solomon becomes king & carries on the Davidic covenant
Evil = Solomon has 1000 wives and concubines; commits idolatry
Question: From whom was David descended? R ___ ___ ___ ___ (Ps 51:5)
Speaker notes:
David
Took/Raped Bathesheba (2 Sam 11:4)
His son, Amnon rapes his sister Tamar (2 Sam 13:14)
His son Solomon had 1000 wives/ Concubines (1 Kings 11:3)
David himself said in Ps 51:5 “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”.
Who was David a descendent of ?
Where could this lust have possibly come from?
He was a descendant of Rahab, the prostitute.
Slide 12
SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE – Ex 3
Abraham DISOBEDIENCE, lied / intentionally fabricated deception on two occasions claiming that Sarah was his sister.
Generational transfer of good and evil:
Good = Sarah’s barrenness is healed and Isaac is born as the son of promise and inherits the covenantal blessings.
Evil = Isaac also lies to a king that his wife Rebekah is his sister
Good = Rebekah is healed of barrenness too and twins are born
Evil = Rebekah and Jacob deceive Isaac to obtain a blessing; Jacob’s 10 sons also lie to him for over 20 years about Joseph’s death.
Speaker notes:
Sins have consequences
No one is exempt
Curses go from generation to generation until broken… and sins are repented of.
Reinforced as each generation participates in it
“Just the way we are in our family”
Abraham was a liar; he Lied TWICE that Sarah was his sister (Gen 12:13 & Gen 20:2)
Isaac, His son, lies to Abimelech that Rebekah is his sister (Gen 26:7)
Jacob and his mother, Rebekah, lie to Isaac in order to obtain Jacob’s blessing (Gen 27:19)
Jacob’s 10 sons lie to Jacob about Joseph’s death (Gen 37:33)
Slide 13
HEALING FROM GENERATIONAL
INFLUENCES
Gal 3:13-14 (NKJV)
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Speaker notes:
GOOD NEWS!!
Only our Lord Jesus can set us free!!
When a generation turns to Jesus for help,
He is able to loose us from our previous bondage and
reverse the results of the bad seeds sown.
We have a choice in
whether the generational curse continues to our children or
Whether it ends with us.
How do we do that?
Slide 14
3 INITIAL STEPS TO HEALING
FROM GENERATIONAL INFLUENCES
Identify generational sins and curses
Renounce the negative patterns and/or repent of sins
Ask God for forgiveness you and your ancestors for sinful practices, then appropriate the finished work of the Cross to break the power of the curse off of you and your family—ask Him to release you from every curse.
Speaker notes:
Praying for healing from generational sins often requires:
Identification of the sins and curses
Renounce the negative pattern/ sin
Asking God to forgive you for you and your participation in it, and release you from the curse of it
Slide 15

IDENTIFICATION
I have a handout for you with a sample Genogram.
Mapping out your ancestors to the 4th generation if possible.
Fill in names
GENOGRAM
Can be freeing as you begin to realize that you are not the only one in your family who has struggled with certain things.
It can also leave you in grief or even anger as you sit with the brokenness and dysfunction in your family.
Invite Holy Spirit to journey with you through every step of this mapping process.
[Review slide images, charts, tables, and reading order.]
Slide 16
Step 1: IDENTIFICATION
Complete up to the 4th generation of your ancestors.
Ask family members for information as needed.
Using the checklists of patterns, write each behavior next to the family member involved.
Some patterns will be obvious; others will require asking the Holy Spirit; do not worry about what you do not know.
Speaker notes:
COMPLETING A GENOGRAM
Complete up to the 4th generation of your ancestors, if possible
If needed, you can ask other family members for information.
Using the checklists of pattern, write each behavior next to the family member involved in that behavior
Some patterns are obvious like anger issues. Some will require you asking Holy Spirit.
Don’t worry about what you don’t know. The Lord will reveal what you need to know, and what He reveals He will bring healing to.
We have 3 handouts to guide you through
Divided into Physical, Spiritual and Emotional/ Attitude
