Spiritual Understanding:
The HS is an intelligent, willful member of the Godhead, whom we must work with and follow just as the disciples worked with and followed Jesus (Mark 16:20).
The HS desires to work in and through us (Ephesians 1:19, 3:7; Col. 1:29; Hebrews 13:21); the Fruit of the Spirit & the Gifts of the Spirit are two manifestations of this truth:
Fruit of the Spirit – personal impact, character development, inward purifying of motivation and heart attitudes (Gal. 5:22-25; Ephesians 5:9-10)
Gifts of the Spirit – corporate impact, service/ministry development, outward manifestation of God’s heart and attitude (1 Corinthians 12:7; 14:12).

Speaker notes:

Emphasis on being led by and used by the Spirit; we must yield our members as instruments unto God (Romans 6:13; 12:1). The Holy Spirit has an objective in bringing the body of Christ to maturity and seeks to use members of the body to edify other members of the body (Ephesians 4:13-16)
